Hernando deputies take suspect into custody after 7-hour standoff

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – Hernando County deputies took a suspect into custody on Friday after a seven-hour standoff. The deputies converged on a Spring Hill apartment complex, located at 10422 Chalmer St., to arrest a man wanted on multiple Pasco County felony warrants.

The suspect, Alexander Schofield, 42, fled into an apartment, deputies said.

Residents were evacuated immediately, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office. The SWAT team arrived and surrounded the apartment complex.

SWAT team members spotted Schofield around 7:24 p.m. and were able to take him into custody, deputies said.

Schofield is being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Facility.
