PHOTOS: Sinkhole opens up in Ocala neighborhood

OCALA, Fla. — Several homes were evacuated in Ocala on Wednesday night after a sinkhole opened up in a neighborhood.

The sinkhole is located on 83rd Avenue in the Oak Run neighborhood of Ocala, according to Marion County Fire Rescue

The 20-foot by 30-foot sinkhole forced crews to evacuate several homes as a precaution.

Water and power was shut off in the area. Marion County Utilities crews remained on scene overnight, working to stabilize a 12″ water main.

Marion County Utilities said the sinkhole was caused by a water main break.
