TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Two Tampa police officers are being praised on social media for their act of kindness, after they went out of their way to help a pregnant woman when her car broke down.
Justine Bowen is 7-months pregnant and was at a WaWa gas station when her car started having problems. Tampa Police Department officers W. Glaros and William B. Cain happened to be at the WaWa when it happened.
She described what happened in a touching Facebook post, which has been shared more than 800 times.
“Cops get so much negative publicity because it’s always easy to talk about the negative. Negative will always make the news but positive rarely ever does. Today, I couldn’t be more thankful to have had Officer W. Glaros and Wm. B. Cain with the City of Tampa Police at the Wawa when my car decided to blow a tube. Glaros stayed with me while Cain went to Autozone to get the new hose. He paid for it out of his pocket because he knew I didn’t have any money, no other ride, and saw my 7 month pregnant belly. When he returned, Officer Glaros went to another call and he stayed and changed my hose out for me. When I say he was pouring sweat so bad to where it was beading off of him and hitting my car and steaming, I’m not exaggerating. This man went above and beyond for me today out of the kindness of his heart and I truly couldn’t be more thankful. From a 7 month pregnant, emotional, car clueless girl, thank you. ❤”
Tampa Police Department shared Bowen’s post on its Facebook page. “She just happened to share it with us,” said TPD spokesperson Andrea Davis.
You might not be aware of just how much praise Tampa police officers receive.
“We get them every day,” said Davis of the emails and phone calls TPD receives from citizens who have had positive experiences with the officers.
“We absolutely love it when people share their experiences with us… This is what police work is all about. It happens all the time, you just don’t hear about it.”
