Lockdown at Tampa’s Plant High School lifted

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Plant High School was placed under lockdown Wednesday morning because of an incident that happened nearby.

A Tampa Police Department spokesperson said the incident occurred off campus at 3800 Palmira Ave West. Police say a disturbance or altercation happened and three men ran away from the Palmira Avenue location toward the general direction of the school

Police say a group of men stole a hover board from a barber shop across the street from the school. The men were chased out by someone at the barber shop. When police arrived at the scene, they found shell casings nearby. It is unclear if any shots were actually fired during the incident.

Police say there were not any 911 calls or reports that shots were fired in the incident.

The lockdown was lifted at 12:09 p.m.

Plant High School is located at 2415 S. Himes Ave. in Tampa.
