90-foot-deep sinkhole closes Hillsborough park

A sinkhole was discovered on a road in Park Lake.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) –A Hillsborough County park is closed after a large sinkhole formed on a main road inside the park.

A Hillsborough County spokesperson said that a geotechnical engineering firm examined the sinkhole at Lake Park and said the hole is 90 feet deep and six feet wide.

The sinkhole has been filled.

The county said public safety is its top priority and the park will be closed until the situation can be permanently fixed.

Lake Park is located at 17302 N. Dale Mabry Highway.
