One man critically injured in early morning shooting in South Tampa

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – One man is in critical condition after being shot at a bar in the busy South Howard district in Tampa.

Just after 2:30 a.m. early Sunday morning, Tampa Police received a 911 call from inside the SOHO Backyard Bar. When they arrived, they found one white adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was rushed to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.


Tampa Police believe the two people involved in this incident knew each other. According to TPD, Timothy Martin, 37, went to the SOHO Backyard where Jeffrey Glenn, 33, works. The two men got into a fight. Glenn went and got his weapon. When he came back, Martin charged him despite the fact that he was armed, according to TPD.

Glenn fired his weapon seriously injuring Martin. Glenn called 911 and paramedics took Martin to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

TPD hasn’t charged anybody in this incident. They continue to investigate.
