Pinellas deputies investigating car shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) – Pinellas deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred around 1:50 p.m. Thursday. An unknown suspect shot into the victims’ vehicle at 52nd Avenue North and Haines Road.

The victims are a 30-year-old driver and her 7-year-old daughter. They were traveling eastbound on 52nd when they stopped at a stop sign. The suspect’s vehicle then pulled up next to the victims’ vehicle on the driver’s side.

The suspect was in the passenger seat. He fired four shots at the victims’ car and then fled. One shot shattered the driver’s side windows of the victim’s car. The driver suffered minor cuts because of the shattered glass. She received treatment on the scene.

Deputies said the victim drove to Angelo’s Mini Mart on Haines Road, and someone there called 911.

A motive is unknown, deputies said. The suspect’s vehicle is a silver sedan.

The investigation is ongoing.
