Tampa’s Downtown on Ice opens for 2015 season

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) —  Get a taste of winter surrounded by palm trees! Tampa’s annual Downtown on Ice rink opens for the 2015-2016 winter season on Friday.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be on hand to officially open the ice rink in Curtis Hixon Park on Friday at 4 p.m. Following the grand opening, the rink will be holding free skating from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tampa Downtown on Ice is the Bay area’s only outdoor ice skating rink. The rink is open daily (except Thanksgiving) from November 20, 2015 – January 3, 2016.

Skating admission costs $12 and includes 90 minutes of skating and skate rental. Concessions are available to purchase.

Hours of operations are Monday-Thursday 4-9 p.m.; Friday 4-10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday noon-9 p.m. Holiday hours vary.
