Traffic update: Here’s how your Wednesday morning commute looks


Looking at Wednesday’s Traffic: In South Tampa, Westshore Blvd is scheduled to close tomorrow (Wednesday) between West Bay Way Dr and Beachway Dr (south of Kennedy Blvd) both directions for as part of the Watrous Canal Rehabilitation Project. Drivers can use Lois Ave or Dale Mabry Hwy as an alternate. Near the Citrus Park area, Wilcox Rd under the Veterans Expwy remains closed for road work through May 17. And in Pinellas, drivers may see a lane or two closed at 4th St and Gandy Blvd overnight, for continued construction in the area.


Ongoing Issues:

Sarasota: Intermittent lane closures on Bee Ridge Rd between the Tamiami Trail /US 41 and McIntosh Rd between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the next seven months. Crews are installing a barrier wall, and also a de-watering system at the intersection of Bee Ridge Rd and Sawyer Rd. The work is part of an overall improvement project.

Lakeland: The six-month Massachusetts Ave project includes curb work, new sidewalk, street scape, resurfacing and the addition on street parking and it will be done in phases. Phase One includes area on Massachusetts Avenue between Lake Morton Drive and Cedar Street.  Phase One is underway and will create 49 additional on street parking spaces.  Thirty-nine spaces will be located on the East side of Massachusetts Avenue between Lake Morton Drive and Lemon Street.  There will be an additional 10 parking spaces on the West side of Massachusetts Avenue between Lemon Street and Main Street. Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures in this area throughout the next six months.

St. Petersburg: Beginning January 6th, the intersection of Gandy Blvd. and S. Frontage Rd. will permanently close for the Gandy Blvd. Project.
