TREASURE COAST, Fla. (WFLA) – A mom from Treasure Coast is upset after seeing footage of her son in an altercation with a Sebastian River High School teacher, WPTV reports. Other students are visible in the video, which made the rounds on the Internet.

“He beat Isaiah like he was in the streets,” the mom told WPTV. “He could’ve broken his neck. He could’ve been in a coma. He could’ve been dead, and what could Sebastian High school tell me? Nothing.”

WPTV reports that a student in the class filmed the video. We don’t see what caused the altercation.

The student admits to making a smart remark to the teacher, WPTV reports. The teacher maintains the student got physical first, but the teen and his mom dispute that.

The video shows a desk flying in the air. The student ends up on the ground. His mom told WPTV a family member sent her the video.

“I want him to apologize to my son. He owes him an apology. He needs to humble down and say, ‘I’m sorry Isaiah. I was outta control and I shouldn’t have done that.’ And apologize to the kids in the classroom and me as his parent,” the mom, Orlaundra Pryor, told WPTV.

Pryor also wants the teacher to be fired.

The teacher, who is not being named because he’s not been charged, said he used “emotion over logic,” WPTV reports.

The school district sent this statement:

“The safety and security of our students is a top priority. The district is aware of the situation and is investigating. During an investigation of this type, the district’s protocol is to re-assign employees to a non-school location. The district expects all employees to interact with students professionally, respectfully, and ethically. If there is a situation where they fail to meet that standard then it is dealt with swiftly and appropriately.”
