Man arrested after trying to set Bucs’ flag on fire, police say

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – A man was arrested after he tried to set a Tampa Bay Buccaneers flag on fire Sunday evening, according to Tampa Police.

It happened at about 8 p.m. at the Raymond James Stadium. TPD got a call from a fan saying that somebody was trying to set the flag on fire. Officers responded and arrested Daniel Justin Raboni, 32, of North Palm Beach. The flag he was trying to light is worth $25,000. It is fire retardant so it didn’t burn, but a small part of the flag melted a little bit, according to TPD.

Officers also found a small amount of marijuana on Raboni at the time of the arrest.

According to the TPD arrest summary, Raboni was a visiting team’s fan. The Bucs played the Giants Sunday, losing 18-32.

Raboni was booked into the Hillsborough County jail on the charges of Criminal Mischief and Possession of Cannabis (less than 20 grams).
