TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — More than 35,000 people turned out at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Saturday, raising more than $3.7 million in the fight against heart disease and stroke. The Tampa Bay Heart Walk is now the second largest in the country.
News Channel 8 had a strong showing with a “huge” team out there walking with some special help from a well-known businessman in the Bay Area, Billy Fuccillo.
Thanks to generous community donations, WFLA exceeded the fundraising goal of $50,000. Billy Fuccillo, of Fuccillo Kia, agreed to match that $50,000 however, increased his donation to $60,000 in a surprise on air Monday morning. That brings the total donation to the American Heart Association to $120,000.
