Motorcyclist killed in hit and run crash

POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A motorcyclist died after he was hit by a large white pickup truck that fled the crash scene, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives are looking for the driver of the pickup.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Bailey Road and Wells Road. The 2012 Honda motorcycle was going south on Bailey when a large white pickup rear-ended it.

The motorcyclist Paul Lavon Wooten, Jr., 26, got ejected upon impact. He landed on the roadway. The pickup didn’t stop or render aid, according to the PCSO.

Paramedics took Wooten to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Polk detectives are looking for the pickup and its driver. They said the pickup could be a Ford F150 or F250, white, with lifts and chrome wheels and rims. There were also two other vehicles of interest in the area: a dark compact car described as a Honda Civic type car, and a blue car.
