Car seats save children’s lives in horrific FL crash

WAKULLA COUNTY, FL (WFLA) — Rescue crews in Wakulla County, Florida are crediting car seats that were properly secured for saving the lives of two young children in a terrible car crash on Halloween.

Wakulla County Fire Rescue wrote on their Facebook page that the 16-month-old and 4-year-old children escaped serious injury, and possibly worse, because their mother took the time to assure they were secured in their approved child seats. The crash occurred on Highway 319 around noon on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The children and their mother were transported to the hospital with minor abrasions. The driver of a third vehicle involved was transported for minor injuries, as well.

Wakulla County Fire Rescue says the impact of the crash broke the car seat that was holding the younger child. “Responders were amazed when they arrived to find the massive damage and discovered no life threatening injuries,” they wrote on Facebook.
