Gas leak report prompts evacuation at Hillsborough school

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A report of a gas leak prompted an evacuation of the Dowdell Middle School Monday morning, according to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

It happened at about 10 a.m. at the school located at 1208 Wishing Well Way. By the time the fire crews got there, everybody was already evacuated. Seven students were triaged, but nobody was taken to a hospital. HCFR Hazmat Team metered the building but didn’t find anything. They gave an ‘all-clear’ and the students and faculty returned to the classrooms about two hours later.

The fire officials didn’t release any information on what triggered the gas leak report.
