TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Tampa Police have a warning for those planning on going to the Taylor Swift concert. If you haven’t already purchased your tickets, be careful who you buy them from. The department is already investigating several complaints generated from craigslist ads.
Brent Miller was one of the potential targets. What the seller didn’t know is Miller is a reputable ticket broker. When he saw the tickets, he knew they were phony. “First thing I did was I ripped them in half….he looked at me like I was crazy.” Said Miller. “And I told him these are fake tickets. And he knew they were fake, obviously and then he took off walking. And I followed him and I said hey, lets get the police since you didn’t know they were fake.”
Miller followed the man and even snapped cell phone pictures of him and the car he left in. He promptly informed police and turned over the evidence. But this particular seller covered his tracks. The silver Dodge was a rental, rented with a stolen credit card out of Miami. The police department has posted a picture of the man and the car on facebook in the hope of generating leads.
Andrea Davis with Tampa Police says Miller did everything right, but probably should have met the seller in a different location. ” meet somewhere like a police department or the sheriff’s office.” Said Davis. “There are surveillance cameras in those areas.”
Investigators believe the man is probably not from this area, and likely found another victim. Unfortunately, that person won’t know he or she has been had until the night of the show. “there are going to be broken hearts.” Said Davis. “little girls trying to go to their first concert and their parents are trying to give them a good time and they go out and buy fake tickets and get turned away at the door.”
