(CNN) – Halloween’s cool factor just got a boost. For those who don’t care about tricks or treats, how about catching an asteroid sighting? NASA says an asteroid will pass earth on Halloween night at 78,000 miles per hour. The asteroid, named 2015 TB145, will be visible to those with good telescopes and NASA, which announced the discovery.
The unexpected flyby was discovered only a few weeks ago. The asteroid is believed to be 300 to 600 meters wide, and will fly closer to earth than any other asteroid since 2006.
According to NASA, the asteroid will be 1.3 lunar distances from the earth’s surface, which means more than 300,000 miles away.
Asteroid 2015 TB145 will be the biggest known object to pass so close to the Earth until 2027.
Scientists say the asteroid poses no threat to the earth. The asteroid will be traveling through Orion on October 31 around 10 a.m.
