Money carrier shot in head outside Orlando-area Publix

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — An armored truck money carrier was shot in the head outside an Orlando-area Publix grocery store on Thursday afternoon.

WESH TV reported that it happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Publix at State Road 436 and Palm Springs Drive in Altamonte Springs.

The victim is a 25-year-old man, according to Seminole County Fire Department officials. He was transported to a local hospital with his condition classified as a trauma alert.

One other person was transported to a hospital in stable condition. WESH TV reported that three people were treated at the scene and did not want to be taken to a hospital.

A witness inside the Publix said she heard about three gun shots in the parking lot.

Police are looking for a vehicle related to the incident. The grocery store is located across the street from the Altamonte Mall.

No other details have been released.

Altamonte Springs is north of Orlando.
