LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Walt Disney World has announced on its official page that Soarin’ will be closed for refurbishments beginning Jan. 4, but will reopen in the summer of 2016.

In August, we learned that next year, guests will have the chance to take on a new Soarin’ experience: Soarin’ Around The World, which will open at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disney California Adventure.

The 4-D attraction will take guests on a journey over some of the world’s most unique landscapes. It will use the same technology that will make the Shanghai attraction, Soaring Over the Horizon.

The original Soarin’ ride, Soarin’ Over California, opened at Disney California Adventure in 2001 and was duplicated at Epcot under the name Soarin’ in 2005.
