TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Hillsborough and Polk County homeowners can make their voice heard about plans to put in new express toll lanes on Interstate 4.
The toll lanes would run through Hillsborough and Polk counties, stretching 22 miles from east of 50th Street, in Tampa, to the Polk Parkway. The lanes would use dynamic pricing, meaning the price would increase or decrease based on the time of day and traffic demand.
People who spoke with News Channel 8 about the proposal like the toll lanes, but not the idea of a changing price. “I don’t know about that. I don’t think that’s very fair, like on 417 it’s one flat rate,” Laura Stemberg said.
“I feel like they should keep it a certain price. I don’t feel like it should fluctuate,” Natalie Valdivia said.
The Florida Department of Transportation is set to hear from the public Monday evening at the Tpepin’s Hospitality Centre on 50th Street in Tampa. The meeting is scheduled to run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
