ORLANDO, Fla. — A man accused of setting his Orlando house on fire with his 6-year-old daughter inside was released from the hospital and booked into jail.

Officials released a photo of wheelchair-bound Robert Merritt. He is charged with arson and attempted murder.

Back in August, a group of Orlando police officers pulled Merritt, his daughter, Kayla, and a dog out of his Betty Street home as the house filled with smoke and flames.

Kayla spent more than a week in the hospital then fully recovered at her grandparents’ home along with her dog, Pepper. She is now living with her mother in Houston, Texas.

Merritt was booked into jail on Sept. 30 and is being held without bond.
