BOSTON (WFLA) – American Airlines says one of its pilots died during an overnight flight from Phoenix to Boston on Monday.
American Airlines flight 550 diverted to Syracuse early Monday morning due to pilot illness.
“Unfortunately our pilot passed away. We are incredibly saddened by this event and we are focused on caring for our pilot’s family and colleagues. We are also taking care of our customers and we did send a replacement crew to get them to Boston,” said an American Airlines spokesperson.
No other details have been released.
The Airbus A320 left Phoenix at 11:55 p.m. and landed in Syracuse at 7:13 a.m. 147 passengers and a crew of five were on board the plane.
