Hernado County Fire Rescue fights early morning mobile home fire

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire shortly before 7:00AM at 17307 Ponce DeLeon Blvd.

The fire was discovered by a passerby who quickly called 911. Within 5 minutes, multiple units responded to the scene to find a doublewide mobile home fully engulfed in flames HCFR was able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The mobile home is a complete loss.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office are currently investigating the cause of the fire. A neighbor told authorities that the owner of the mobile home was out of town visiting family. There were no injuries to the crew or to residents.

HCFR wishes to thank the passerby who saw the fire and called 911. Their quick thinking allowed HCFR units to arrive quickly and prevented other homes on the property from catching fire as well.
