Fire at downtown St Pete parking garage destroys several cars

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (WFLA) – Several drivers wake up to find their cars destroyed in a fire at the parking garage in downtown St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Police confirmed.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the parking garage located at 360 Central Ave. According to SPPD dispatch, a vehicle had a malfunction and caught on fire. It spread to other cars in the garage.

At least four cars are totaled, others are damaged. The garage got no structural damage. It was not at full capacity at the time of the fire, with about 200 cars inside.
