Female in stolen vehicle kills 83-year-old driver, flees in Hillsborough

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – HIllsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a female who was driving a stolen car and crashed into another vehicle Friday, killing the driver, 83-year-old Lawrence Lockhart Jr. The suspect then ran from the scene.

The crash happened at Sheldon Road and Wood Lake Boulevard on Friday night. Lockhart, from Tampa, was driving a 2006 Mercury Mystic, crossing Sheldon Road, deputies said. The driver’s side of his vehicle was struck by a southbound 2015 Cadillac, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Lockhard died at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Surveillance video from a nearby gas station captured the suspect as she was running away from the scene. She has been described as a white female, who is 5’6″ and weighs 140 pounds. She has long reddish-brown hair. She went to the Radiant convenience store and obtained a ride, deputies said.
