Two Pinellas deputy vehicles involved in accident

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL (WFLA) — Two Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy vehicles were involved in a crash on their way to a call on Thursday morning near U.S. Highway 19.

The accident happened on E. Frontage Road, along the east side of U.S. 19. Frontage Road is closed to the south at the entrance ramp to U.S. 19 and reopens to the north at Bel Air Road. It’s unclear why the two patrol vehicles crashed, but it’s known they were not in a pursuit with a suspect.

Both deputies suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Traffic information from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office: Frontage closed between Whitney Road and Haines Bayshore Road due to the crash. Also Haines Bayshore Road closed westbound between Frontage Road and Cardinal Drive. U.S. 19 was not blocked.
