TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – A young man and a teenage girl were arrested in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Eion Gustitis, according to Tampa Police.
Gustitis was found dead with a gunshot wound to the upper body on Commerce Street in Tampa on Sept. 6. This week Tampa Police detectives arrested Kyra Rielle Cuadrado, 16, and Ezekiel Marc, 20, in connection with the murder.
Cuadrado was charged with being an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, and Marc got the charge of being an accessory after the fact to an armed robbery involving a firearm. Detectives believe the shooter is somebody the two know.
According to TPD, the victim was suspected of stealing someone’s cellphone and about 10 grams of marijuana at a party. The person Gustitis had taken it from asked Marc and two others to “take care of it.”
Marc picked up Gustitis Sept. 5 and drove him to an apartment on Commerce Street. Some time later the suspect got out of the car with Gustitis and came back alone a few minutes later with the victim’s shorts and money. The suspect said, “It’s done; let’s go” and they drove off.
Marc got about $30-40 of the victim’s money. Cuadrado tried to hide the gun and the bullets, throwing them into a lake. TPD detectives found a box of .22 caliber bullets and a Jennings .22 caliber pistol in the lake.
The autopsy on Gustitis revealed that he had been shot from a .22 caliber weapon.
TPD detectives continue to investigate. If you have any information about the murder, please contact law enforcement or the Crime Stoppers if you would prefer to remain anonymous.
