Pot bundle falls from sky, crushes dog crate

An Arizona family says the roof of their carport was destroyed by a 28-pound bundle of marijuana that fell from the sky.

The package was securely wrapped in brown and black tape. It went crashing through the roof, crushing a dog crate that was under the carport, just after midnight on September 8th. The family says they heard a loud noise and thought it was thunder.

They found the block of marijuana the next morning sitting on the smashed dog crate, just below the hole in the carport roof.

Nogales Police Department say the package was probably dropped by a small aircraft. Nogales, Arizona sits near the border with Mexico. Smugglers frequently use small aircraft — and even catapults — to get drugs across the border to the lucrative U.S. market, police say.
