Dive team recovers body of boater in Hillsborough lake

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team recovered the body of a boater in the lake at Ed Meddard Park on Thursday.

A sheriff’s office spokesperson said that at 10 a.m., a boater located a small abandoned boat, anchored in the lake at Ed Meddard Park, 5726 Panther Loop.

The boater notified the park ranger and the park ranger contacted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. HCSO deputies, the Marine Unit and the Dive Team responded and located a deceased white male in the water.

The person has been identified, but a next of kin has not been identified at this time, so the person’s name has not been released.

The sheriff’s office says there are no signs of foul play.

The man was seen launching the boat on Thursday between 6-7 a.m.
