WFLA Friday Blitz comes to Newsome High School

LITHIA, FL (WFLA) — Newsome High School takes on Durant Friday night for a special game. Right now, both teams are 2-0 for the regular season, so one team will lose its perfect record.

Because Friday is the anniversary of 9/11, both high school marching bands are working together and will perform patriotic music to honor the heroes. Members of the military, first responders, and law enforcement will get into the game free with ID.

Students got up early for a morning pep rally hosted by WFLA News Channel 8 and 93.3 FLZ. News Channel 8’s Lindsey Mastis hosts the Blitz live during the morning, and Brody from 93.3 FLZ plays music during the pep rally. Football players, the marching band, cheerleaders, mascot, and students show their school spirit by cheering for their team.

Students are pumped up for Friday’s game. Check out their school spirit in the video above.

Many students are dressed in red, white and blue on Friday to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11.
