Police: FL woman hired hitman to kill homeless man

(NBC) – A Volusia County, Florida woman has been charged with trying to hire a hitman to kill a homeless man who she says was giving her grandchildren lice.

According to the charging affidavit, 50-year-old Pamela King Vanorsdale tried to hire her former son-in-law to shoot a 22-year-old homeless man who she said was having an affair with one of her married daughters. Investigators say she also complained that her grandchildren were coming home with lice.

Police say that Vanorsdale carefully planned the hit with her former son-in-law, who was recording their conversations. Instead of carrying out her plan, the would-be hitman turned Vanorsdale into the police.

Vanorsdale is being held on $25,000 bond pending a September 17th arraignment. She admits to making the murder-for-hire arrangements but claims she was joking.
