TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Let the hype begin. Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans excited about tonight’s pre-season game against the Miami Dolphins, but ready for the regular season to begin.
At a quaint South Tampa coffee shop called The Library, Bucs fans talked about the game.
“I’m hoping for a win,” said Donna Brudno, a fan since moving to the Bay area a decade and a half ago. “I want them to play better, be a tighter team and win,” she said.
She’s not alone, ‘Library’ regular Kayode Joseph, a self-professed soccer fan, but lover of Buccaneer football, said the key to full fan support, will not be in tonight’s game, but in what they do after tonight. “I think everyone is kind of waiting. I think they need to win the first (regular season) game,” he said.
At The Press Box sports bar, owner Walter Hill said his TVs will be tuned to WFLA tonight to watch the Bucs versus Dolphins.A win he said, hinges on one thing. “If we don’t get a defense we’re not gonna have a decent season at all. I have faith that the coaches and the staff are going to pull it together and we’re gonna have a pretty good season after all,” Hill said.
Donna Brudno has another idea. “Hire Warren Sapp. Number 99 for coach.. Please Lovie (Smith). Thank you. He’s got a wealth of information and he would be of good use to the team. He could put a fire under the players and get everybody going,” she said.
The game starts at 8 o’clock tonight and you can watch it on WFLA, News Channel 8.
