PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A Pasco County deputy found an injured dog behind the Publix in the Fox Hollow area. The dog was wandering around and had fresh injuries.

Deputy Riyad called animal control – but then fed the poor pup beef jerky until officers arrived to provide aid. “Dep. Riyad thinks the dog might have been used for dog fighting,” the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Some Facebook users questioned whether the dog was used in fighting. “If it’s just face injuries and the dog is nice then chances are the dog got out of a cage or kennel or fenced area and was not used for fighting,” one wrote.

Either way, we’re grateful the deputy found – and fed – this dog.
