VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A mother and her two-year-old daughter who were reported missing when they did not return home from a beach outing were found safe Wednesday.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office launched a search for 27-year-old Kristen Santee and her daughter, Jorgia age 2 on Wednesday morning.

Santee and her daughter were last seen sometime between 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, when they left a residence on 20th Street near Orange City on a 4-wheeler. A relative reported them missing to the Sheriff’s Office at 8:59 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Deputies at the scene were told that the mother and child left on a black, Honda ATV to look at turtles on Tuesday and never returned. The gas tank on the ATV reportedly was half full.

Sheriff’s patrol deputies along with motors units, investigators and K-9 units flooded the neighborhood searching for the pair. A helicopter from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the search.

At about 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office reported that the pair had been found safe. The sheriff’s office says they were at a friend’s house.
