Riverview mother shot, critically wounded while answering door

RIVERVIEW, FL (WFLA) – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an early morning shooting that left one woman at the hospital in critical condition.

According to deputies, after midnight on Saturday, Angela Morales, 37, her twin 9-year-olds (a boy and a girl) and her husband heard a knock on their door at 12924 Fennway Ridge Drive.

Upon answering the door, Morales was shot multiple times by a suspect, who fled in a 4-door sedan.

The suspect is described as a black male, possibly wearing something around his face and possibly with tattoos. Officials believe there could be more than one shooter in this case since two different kinds of bullet casings were found at the scene.

Morales was transported to Tampa General Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay or the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 813-247-8200.
