TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – University of South Florida Police say a sinkhole measuring 3 feet wide on the surface has opened up on Sycamore Drive on the Tampa campus.

The sinkhole appears to be much larger underground, University Police spokesman Lt. Chris Daniel said. Underground, it stretches 10 feet by 5 feet in diameter and is 4 feet deep, he said. Barricades will be placed on Sycamore Drive, rerouting traffic for several days, Daniel added.

Sycamore Drive is located on the east side of campus, one block west of North 50th Street. Engineers will be called in to determine what should be done next.
