HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – Detectives have named a suspect in the Carrollwood double murder. Nicole Nachtman, the daughter of victim Myriam Dienes, will be charged with two counts of murder. Nachtman, 21, is accused of murdering her mom and stepdad, 67-year-old Robert Dienes, on Thursday around 9:26 p.m. in front of the couple’s Carrollwood home.
Nachtman is currently in Tallahassee but detectives said she will be brought back to the Bay area.
A naval flag still flies in front of the Dienes home. Myriam Dienes, 56, was a reserve Navy captain. She had just returned from reserve duty when she was found dead in front of her Fennsbury Drive home late Thursday night. Robert Dienes was found dead inside the home.
As the investigation went on throughout much of the day on Friday, nearby resident Leigh Reynolds watched in disbelief as the quiet street she has lived on for decades turned into a crime scene. Reynolds was watching television in her home on Thursday night when she said she heard gun shots ring out. “Bang, bang, bang! And my husband came out of the other room and said, ‘Did you hear that?’ He said it sounded like a crash. I said, no, it didn’t, it sounded like gun shots,” Reynolds said.
For Reynolds and other neighbors in Carrollwood Village, a sense of safety and security is shaken. “Unnerving. Because we feel like this is an extremely safe neighborhood. Nothing like this ever happens,” Vicki Kensky said.
Investigators spent much of the day on Friday combing through every inch of the property, towing away two vehicles, even searching a nearby lake for any evidence.
