“Operation Room Service” drug bust nets witness to Tarpon Springs officer murder

TARPON SPRINGS, FL (WFLA) – It’s called Operation Room Service. The Tarpon Springs Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office conducted the sting operation beginning in June, to arrest street level drug dealers operating out of two Tarpon Springs motels.

Those motels are the Tarpon Inn and the Sun Bay Motel. Twenty one people are charged with various drug sale violations, 14 of them are in custody.

“With these people, when is this going to stop. when is the system gonna work,” said Bob Gualtieri,  Pinellas County Sheriff.

Tarpon Springs Police Chief Robert Kochen and Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced the results of the operation Friday. Chief Kochen said, the  “Charlotte’s Web of drug dealing thugs, all interconnected”.

Among the 14 arrested is Jareem Roach. He was a witness in the December shooting death of Tarpon Springs officer Charlie Kondek.

“Roach was involved in the homicide as a witness at this point,” said Gualteiri.

According to the Tarpon Police, “as a result of the operation, a total of 84 criminal charges were established. The majority of the charges included narcotics sales involving crack cocaine, although some of the other charges included Sale of Methamphetamine, Sale of Oxycodone, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.”
