Indian River County’s death linked to Flakka, deputies say

INDIAN RIVER  COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A man’s death is linked to the drug called Flakka in Indian River County, WPTV reported citing sheriff’s deputies.

According to WPTV, it happened in June. Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call of a man “acting crazy.” Several people were holding him down. The deputies performed CPR on him and he was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name was Jermaine Benjamin, 41. According to the Medical Examiner’s report, he died of excited delirium after taking Flakka.

“Drug users should be wary of purchasing anything that may be Flakka as it might be your last purchase,” Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said in a statement, according to WPTV.
