NEW PORT RICHEY (WFLA) – News Channel 8 viewers are stepping up to help an 85 year-old Korean War vet after flood waters heavily damaged his home. Disaster restoration crews worked through the weekend to remove all the water. They will be back Monday to begin the repair work.
Gordon Page, 85, and his wife, Myrna, care for three other veterans in their home. Flood waters damaged nearly every room in their house on Sharon Drive. News Channel 8 viewer Susan Draves says her heart sank when she saw what the Page’s were going through. Draves spent the weekend helping the couple salvage its belongings and move them to her storage facility.
Billy Fuccillo, president of Fuccillo Kia in Wesley Chapel, also stepped up upon learning the Page’s story. Fuccillo has now pledged to foot the bill for the repairs.
The Page’s say they are overwhelmed by the community’s generosity. “It’s unbelievable,” said Myrna Page. “And almost every day I cry because without you guys, we don’t know what to do.”
