TAMPA, FL (WFLA) – Busch Gardens is celebrating World Lion Day this weekend with special festivities and fun for both the feline residents and their guests.

The Edge of Africa Animal Care Team plan fun crafts and educational activities with guests starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday. You can learn more about the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund’s effort to help preserve lions who are listed as vulnerable species and their numbers are declining. You can even win a prize if you participate!

The Busch Gardens is home to two lion prides,  the Simon Pride (Simon, Iris, and Rose) and the Kembe Pride (Kembe, Shaba, and Shtuko). The felines will have a blast as well with cardboard toys to play with, ice treats to beat the heat and of course their very own World Lion Day cake.

The ‘Buy One Get One Free’ offer is still valid at the Busch Gardens. This promotion continues until August 24.

The official World Lion Day is Monday, Aug. 10.
