The Keiko Shin Karate Academy in Wesley Chapel has returned from the AAU National Karate Championship in Raleigh, NC as the number one Dojo in the country. “I don’t want to brag about my students but we really, really dominated the tournament in terms of if you compare our level with the rest of the nation we really did good,” said KSKA Sensei Ernesto Fuentes.
KASA took twenty students to the national championship in Raleigh and they brought back thirty-four medals, twenty-two of them gold medals. But Sensei Fuentes says practicing Karate goes far beyond winning tournaments.
“One of my dreams is to have them be the President of the United States. A senator, olympians, a famous person that when I am old they will remember the details of conversation that I gave them, encouragement that I gave them to be the person that they want to be. The person their parents want them to be and the person the community wants them to be”.
The Keiko Shin Karate Academy competed against more than 2500 contenders from all over the United States, Israel, Romania and Canada.
