Pinellas deputies capture escaped Largo Road Prison inmate

UPDATE: Joel Robinson has been recaptured.

PREVIOUS STORY: LARGO, FL (WFLA) – A Largo Road Prison inmate escaped in Pinellas County Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

The prisoners were working at a Department of Transportation yard in the county, when the staff supervising the DOT Work Squad conducted an inmate count, and Joel Robinson, 26, was not present. DOT staffers deemed him an escapee and notified local and state law enforcement. K-9 units have been called to search for the inmate.

Robinson is about 5 feet 10 inches and weighs 235 pounds. His charges in Pinellas County include drug possession and sales and grand theft auto.
