Highlands detectives say man reported missing has been found

UPDATE: Alex Christopher Schneider has been located. He is safe, detectives said.

PREVIOUS STORY: HIGHLANDS COUNTY – Highlands County Sheriff’s detectives are attempting to locate 39-year-old Alex Christopher Schneider.  Schneider, who is from California, was visiting his parents in Sebring. He was last seen there on July 10. Schneider was planning to travel to Orlando, then on to Jacksonville for a flight back to California.

He has recently suffered from an unknown allergy to certain foods. This allergic reaction causes his throat to swell to the point of making breathing difficult. For this reason, unsuccessful attempts to locate him have caused his family to be concerned for his welfare.

Schneider is a white male. He is 5’8” and weighs 130 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Schneider was travelling in a rented silver 2014 Hyundai with the Florida tag 536YFH. This vehicle has not been returned to the rental agent.

Anyone with information on the Schneider’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit at 863-402-7358 and speak with Detective Lars Kirkegard. Anyone with information who wants to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477 or visit http://www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com.
