POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) – A woman is at a hospital, another one is dead after an apparent murder and suicide attempt in Lakeland, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
According to PCSO, the deputies responded to a home on Crystal Hills Loop Friday morning after receiving a call about an unresponsive woman. Paramedics found Angela Honeycutt, 43, the woman who lived at the house with her adult daughter, dead. Homicide detectives launched an investigation.
The investigators got a call about a suspicious vehicle about a mile away from the house. They located a black Jeep Wrangler in the industrial area on Reynolds Road. Nancy Vincente, 48, of Mulberry, was on the ground near the Jeep with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital. She is listed in critical condition.
According to Polk detectives, Vincente and Honeycutt were in a romantic relationship. Vincente had spent Thursday night at Honeycutt’s home. When Honeycutt’s relatives woke up Friday morning, Vincente and her Jeep were gone, and Honeycutt was in her bed with a gunshot wound in the head.
An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. At this point of the investigation, Polk detectives believe Vincente shot Honeycutt in the head and then left and tried to commit suicide. The continue to investigate.
