Moms and dads are fired up and offended. They are, in some cases, furious about what they heard. Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is causing controversy again with some comments made in a 2011 deposition where a female attorney claims he called her “disgusting” when she asked to take a break so she could use her breast pump.
The new mom fired back at Trump, saying that his comments were made out of fear and that he had a “meltdown” during the high-profile meeting. Elizabeth Beck said, “It’s unprofessional, he pointed his finger at me and said you’re disgusting. You’re disgusting.” Trump maintains that the woman asked to use her breast pump in front of him. He told CNN, “I might have used the word disgusting, she’s terrible. She wanted to pump in front of me.” Beck, the female attorney, had a three-month-old baby girl at the time.
Tampa Bay area parents and had a lot to say to 8 On Your Side about the controversial comment. Some believe it’s a publicity stunt while others believe the businessman is just an offensive person. They couldn’t believe Trump, acting as a candidate, would make such comments to a new mom, comments that they called offensive. Bethany Navida, a mother of two, said, “He shouldn’t have done that. Breast-feeding is natural. I breast-fed my kids and they’ve never had any health problems.” One dad said, “He’s an idiot, he never should have said that, he has no right to say it.”
One mom, who breast-fed both of her children told News Channel 8 that Trump has a lot more to worry about than whether or not mom’s use a breast pump. “I can’t believe he would say that. This just shows you who he is and what he’s about.”
