2 women struck by lightning in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Rescue officials in Orlando say two women are recovering from lightning strikes.

The lightning strikes happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Orange County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Kat Kennedy told the Orlando Sentinel the strike was forceful enough to knock a woman to the ground. She was conscious when fire rescue crews arrived. She was in serious condition when she was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The second woman declined medical treatment.
