Two-year-old boy drowns in Citrus County pond

A 2-year-old boy drowned in a Citrus County pond.

A 2-year-old boy drowned Friday around 1:30 p.m. in a pond. Detectives responded to 9520 W. Dunedin Road in Dunnellon.

The boy’s mother and her boyfriend were outside with the toddler, Ethan Adams, detectives said. Ethan “walked away from the couple and wandered to the backyard where there is a small pond,” detectives said. After realizing he was missing, the couple went to the backyard and saw the boy floating.

Citrus County Fire Rescue crews performed CPR until Nature Coast EMS took the boy to Seven Rivers Hospital. Ethan was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said the incident does not seem suspicious.
