St. Pete man charged with possessing, distributing child pornography

John Douglas Long

A 50-year-old St. Petersburg man has been charged with 10 counts of child pornography possession and one count of distributing child pornography. John Douglas Long was arrested Tuesday.

The crime occurred in a residence at 6140 18th St. S. Detectives said they began investigating May 21 after obtaining “information that the suspect was downloading child pornography on his computer.” In Long’s residence, detectives found images and videos “that included sexual conduct by children,” the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Long gave an admission to detectives, according to the sheriff’s office. Detectives said they don’t believe Long knew the victims in the images and videos.
