Police: Man struck Tampa police cruisers during traffic stop

TAMPA, FL (WFLA)– Tampa Police officers are currently searching for a suspect who struck at least two police cruisers while fleeing from a traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Police officers are searching for the suspect near an apartment complex in the area of 4728 S. Trask Avenue near Gandy Blvd. in south Tampa.

Police say they randomly ran the tags of the suspect’s car in the drive-thru of McDonald’s around 3:35 a.m. Additional officers were called in to assist when the suspect fled in his vehicle, striking the cruisers. The suspect fled from the car and officers chased him on foot to the apartment complex. There were no injuries during the incident. According to police the man they are looking for is described as a black male, 6’3″ in dark clothing.
